In doing research for my Mobile Marketing class at Full Sail University I was introduced to an article by Ryan Pinkham on the Constant Contact Blogs entitled “8 Things Small Businesses Must Know About the Future of Mobile Marketing” about mobile marketing that I found very useful and thought I would share.
All in all it was a good article, I did not find anything in it that was so new as to be unheard of, however as the post suggested, most people are still not on the mobile party bandwagon yet so they were all things that needed to be said again. I found it interesting that Ryan stated that most company only allocates 1% of their marketing budget to mobile.
One of the statistics that Ryan shared that really caught my attention was that YouTube has seen a 400% increase in mobile viewership. I guess it makes sense because I use YouTube on the go to keep the kids occupied, but 400%, that’s huge. I have always felt that video’s are a needed part of a good Internet marketing campaign, but it is become an absolute must have for mobile marketing with those kind of trends.
I have done and been involved in customer service for over 15 years, both face to face and over the phone and not to brag I feel I am good at it, but again Ryan reminds us of the trend that customer service is taking place on social media and social media is a huge mobile activity. The companies like the mentioned JetBlue that master social media customer service will have a great advantage in the market place. Being behind in mobile marketing does not seem to be a good place to be so I guess I better get busy.
