Now, I am not really a t-shirt kind of guy. I mean, I wear them to the gym and doing yard work on Saturday and even some times under a sweater or something but not much else. For the most part I have not really found any that I could just live without. But then I was introduced to a website called Threadless.com. Not only did I find some tee shirts that I liked and could see myself wearing, I found an amazing E-Commerce website.
I really liked the look and feel of the homepage. The page is heavily imaged based, meaning that I can see what they are selling. Now, that is a great idea if you ask me. Above the fold of the page there is only a handful of words to be seen leaving room for images of what I am looking for–that being t-shirts. They say a picture is worth a thousand words and I think this homepage will easily make that for Threadless.com
Looking at the navigation, it is again image based and does not let down. True, the product of the company is simple, thus the navigation challenges for Threadless.com is simple, however, they really hit a home run with elevating simple to a new level. Being able to do simple well is hard to find but when you do you remember it.
The site used a few simple little features that real pushed the site over the top. First one is the shopping cart icon. Showing how many items are in the shopping cart is so simple I can’t believe that everyone is not doing it. It was so helpful to know how many items in the shopping cart to keep from overspending and creating buyers remorse.
The second element that I really felt elevated the shopping experience was that with the shirt sizes it also showed what was left in stock as it got low. Again simple but it lets a shopper know that if they like it and want it maybe they should get it now based on the stock level. From a company point of view I liked this because it will help go through inventory because it creates a feeling of urgency.
There is a lot to learn from this website. I just wish this was my site. Well done Threadless.com web designer.
