Viral videos are a tricky thing. No one can guarantee that a video will go viral. This month I have been studying viral marketing and for my assignment this week I had to make a video for a potential viral campaign. To be honest I found this assignment challenging because I don’t really have the equipment to do the job right and well, I am not an “On Air” type. However I gave it a go.
I got the idea for this video when my wife got upset when I did the set up for a computer we purchased. She was mad that I set it up and set the password and there was no recovering from it. I have since learned that many women feel the same way when a guy takes it upon themselves to set things up for a female. So I decided to use that emotion to gain interest for the video. Also I felt the video might not be strong enough on its own so I added the concept of a customizable lock screen application that would be given for free on the proposed company website. I figured that people would be interested in the free application if it had appeal and you could get the word out. Using the video and social media I believe you could get the word out and drive a lot of traffic to the proposed company website thus gain exposure and new customers.
Let me know what you think. Am I on the right track here or not?
